Over the years, great friendships have developed, and the collaboration between people and companies has become more and more important. Riftboards is grateful to have such phenomenal partners and friends and would not be where we are now without them. Thank you!
I met Stan in the summer of 2016 in Silvaplana. He had just tested and broken his first bars, and I was trying my first attempts at foil riding. In the evening, we started talking and immediately connected well. In December 2016, I bought one of Stan's first bars, or possibly the very first one, and I shaped my first foilboard for him. In the summer of 2017, we went on a three-week road trip to Denmark together (before that, we had only met once in Silvaplana for about an hour and didn’t really know each other), and from the start, we had an amazing time and formed a great friendship. Now we kite together, fly together, and talk on the phone weekly for at least an hour. Stan's bars are unique, and it’s wonderful that I’ve been able to witness the story of SK Shapes from the very beginning. Stan is always striving to make the best even better, and there are no limits to his innovation. The bars are truly masterpieces and change the way we kite.
When I started kitesurfing in 2001, I had no computer or TV at home. I bought the magazine "Kite and Friends" to learn about available brands. With a limited selection and nearly zero budget, I purchased a Scrubs mountainboard and a 5m HQ Beamer from a juggling and kite shop in Winterthur. In 2005, I added a Peter Lynn Venom to my gear; I considered the Flysurfer Psycho but couldn't afford it with birthday money, Christmas gifts, and a summer job. That year, I also began kitesurfing with the Venom. By 2009 or 2010, I bought my first Flysurfer kite, the Speed 3, and have remained loyal to the brand ever since, often having one or two Flysurfer kites, especially in larger sizes. My favorite was the 21m Speed 3, which I flew for years. It gave me my first significant flying experiences, including an exhilarating moment soaring above trees for 2-3 minutes before landing in a cornfield—terrifying but exciting! Snowkiting took me down the mountains, always trusting my Flysurfer kites. My collaboration with Riftboards deepened, and I exclusively flew Flysurfer since then. In 2022, realizing I needed a change because the flights during snowkite expeditions went clearly above what was save. I started paragliding and quickly flew the Moustache 15m during my course. I’ve truly embraced Flare since. I appreciate Flysurfer's consistency and innovation and trust that every product is thoroughly designed and produced to the highest standards. This aligns perfectly with my philosophy in board production.
Soon.
